The Joker of Seville

A production of Derek Walcott’s play with a community chorus and a set of musical instruments made of recycled materials.

The Joker of Seville is by Nobel Laureate Derek Walcott with music by the composer of the music for Hair, Galt MacDermot and is considered a classic of Caribbean theatre. It is an adaptation of Tirso de Molina’s El Burlador de Sevilla and is a rambunctious, funny, lusty telling of the adventures of Don Juan set in the stick fighting arenas of rural Trinidad and 17th Century Spain on All Souls Eve.
