“At heart, ‘Come On In’ is a simple offer – meet some of the people that are part of our community and write songs about them, songs to sing back to that community.” – Francesca Beard, poet at Herne Hill

StrongBack Productions in collaboration with the Platform Cafe and supported by Brixton £ are proud to invite you to the first public screenings of Come On In: Life Journeys, a duo of short films documenting and celebrating the lives of volunteers at Loughborough Farm and the staff at Herne Hill train station. The film features T.S. Eliot award winner Anthony Joseph, and local poets Francesca Beard and John Hegley as well as our participants.

The films will be shown across Saturday 10th June at the Platform Café, SW9 7AH as part of the London Festival of Architecture.

Screenings will be at 10am, 12pm, 2pm and 4pm.

“…they captured the everyday lives of the people who keep this community running which is something really special. I think this kind of project could help foster empathy for our fellow community members.” – Audience member

Come On In places poets and musicians into different community spaces in Lambeth, facilitating conversation and commissioning new song-poems based on the stories they heard there. The project is produced by StrongBack Productions and our partners Speaking Volumes.

“I laughed, sighed, smiled and even cried for pride and happiness and of what I achieved… I felt I made myself very proud… I would like to thank you all for giving me the opportunity, support, encouragement and your friendship and for all being part of my journey I will always treasure.” – Sharon Jeffrey, Customer Service Manager at Herne Hill train station
